By Simon Bylaisen Mar 25, 2018 00:56:10Roma 2-1 Roma: Marco Verreatti scored a goal in the last 10 minutes to give Roma the first Serie C win of the season.
The Rossoneri took the lead just before the hour mark after Mario Mandzukic scored his second of the game from a corner.
The hosts had already had two goals disallowed by a referee for a controversial challenge on Gianluca Spagni’s man, and then they made it 3-0 thanks to Marcelo.
The Croatian striker scored the opener with a free-kick from outside the area.
Roma then doubled their lead when Mandzukelli headed home from a close-range penalty in the dying minutes.
Afterwards, Roma manager Massimiliano Allegri said he was pleased with his team’s performance and their defensive shape.
“We were the best team in the league and we deserved to win, but I am very happy with our performance,” Allegri told reporters.
“It was a good game, I think it was better than last year.
I am satisfied with our defending and we were very strong.”
The game was not really in the spirit of the second leg.
We played better and we defended well.
“But I do not know what the next step is.
We have to see.
We had one goal disallowed in the first half, so it was difficult.”
Roma have now won all four Serie A matches in which they have played this season, with the first two coming in the Champions League.
